Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) or COVID-19 has infected more than 283 million people world- wide and is responsible for nearly 5.5 million deaths. While a significant number of people have recovered from this infection, nearly 40% of the patients who leave the ICU have important complications that compromise their activity of daily living.
In this case study, four middle-aged to elderly females with COVID-19 who were admitted to the hospital were studied. These four were transferred to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) from the medical unit that they were originally admitted to because they had displayed progressive deterioration.
