Abstract focus

Oxidative stress, a known activator of HIV replication in vitro, has a potential role as a cofactor of HIV disease progression. Arguments supporting the role of oxidative stress as a cofactor in HIV activation are summarized in this review.

Context from Dr. Gutman’s comments

The AIDS virus is known to thrive even in an environment of oxidative stress and free radicals. This review examines Immunocal’s potential to suppress its growth, and constitutes preliminary findings at McGill University with what was then a novel glutathione precursor.
