Abstract focus

Glutathione (GSH) concentration is high in most tumor cells and this may be an important factor in resistance to chemotherapy. Previous in-vitro and animal experiments have shown a differential response of tumor versus normal cells to various cysteine delivery systems.

Context from Dr. Gutman’s comments

This was one of the first clinical studies of Immunocal in humans, conducted before the product was widely known and even before the official launch of Immunotec. A large human trial at this stage would have been premature, so the team began with smaller studies to first satisfy safety concerns and confirm the method of inquiry.
